About

Using traditional materials like oil paint and charcoal, Jill Eberle creates realistic works that explore personal narratives and human interactions. Having taught for over a decade at East Carolina University, she enjoys delving deeply into the process of figurative drawing, painting and anatomy. She balances sensitive rendering and subtle expressions with bolder graphic shapes or tightly woven compositions. The models are often friends or actors, either rehearsing or asked to act out situations. Thus her work may have a staged appearance, a holdover from her initial training and work in set design and scene painting for theater. Currently, she teaches occasional small classes and workshops while focusing on her studio work in New Bern, NC.
